Embassy Court, Welling

Client: Albourne Developments (RDP) Ltd
Authority: London Borough of Bexley

We helped to obtain planning permission in October 2007 for the redevelopment of the outworn Embassy Court shopping precinct in Welling High Street in the London Borough of Bexley. The redevelopment comprises a 7,000 sq m foodstore with 64 flats above. We co-ordinated the planning application including preparation of a Planning Statement, Retail Impact Assessment and Design and Access Statement and subsequently negotiated consent for the various revisions to the scheme that arose as a consequence of our client’s contracting with Tesco Stores Limited to operate the retail foodstore (which is programmed to open on the 8th November 2010). Our client let a lease for the entire residential element to the Hyde Housing Association which will use all the flats for ‘affordable’ housing, with the first tenants moving in soon.
