Former Halcyon Hotel, Holland Park,
Client: Tusk Developments
Authority: Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
We secured planning permission and listed building consent for the change of use of a hotel to 14 residential apartments, with associated alterations to the building.
Our client had inherited a planning permission from previous prospective developers, but this neither met its own vision for the building, a pair of Grade II listed buildings dating from mid-19th-century, nor contemporary expectations for high quality residential accommodation.
In a detailed and long running dialogue with officers of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, detailed scrutiny was given to those aspects of the original building that merited retention and measures with which modern day, and environmentally sustainable features could be introduced to the building without compromising the important heritage aspects of the building. We worked closely with Andrew Brown of Woodhall Planning and Conservation as well as with the architects and project managers at Tusk Developments, who eventually produced an outstanding finished product.
